VP Social – Christopher Phounsy

Christopher Phounsy

Degree and Year: Carleton University – Sprott School of Business graduate: concentration in accounting with a minor in law.

Experience: Godfather at JDCC 2010. CEO of the Sprott School of Business’ orientation week (SPROSH) 2010. General manager and coach for the Sprott School of Business hockey team for Cure Cancer Classic 2011 at Queen’s University. Sprott Business Student’s Society (SBSS) 2010-2011. Multiple levels of awesomeness.

How’d you get here? Learning from the best – and now I try and lead current students along the same path. The past three years were nothing but a blast for me enjoying everything my school had to offer in terms of volunteering, networking and working with other students. My effort was towards student involvement because I really believe that everyone should be involved as much as possible to get the most out of their university career. My goals have always been to help and support students as much as possible – because if it weren’t for the students older than me I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am now. I’m a believer in paying it forward, so as I bulldoze my way to the top, I hope to create an easier path for everyone else. My time with SPROSH taught me Sprott can be very competitive, but at the end of the day we’re all here for each other. I hope to bring that experience to JDCC; keep it all competitive and still love each other at the end of the day.

Responsibilities for JDCC 2012: I’m responsible for getting teams to push their creativity and skills to the max, every minute, to beat the other teams – and all while creating an upbeat environment, and making sure no one throws up.

What is your favourite Disney movie? The Incredibles. Tons of action, some caring moments and the little kid on the tricycle kills me every time. Plus, who doesn’t want to have super powers? Sorry Five for Fighting, Disney wins this one.
