History
“Jeux du Commerce” (Commerce Games) has witnessed tremendous success since its inception in Quebec in 1989. Over the course of its 25 years, it has become a prestigious annual event that brings together over 1200 of the top business students from across Quebec. Due to the success of Jeux du Commerce in the East, the competition began its expansion to the rest of the country. In 2006, the inaugural competition out West was held in Vancouver under a new name: JDC West.
After five successful years in British Columbia and Alberta, the competition grew again into Ontario, where it was hosted by the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University in January 2010. The games were a great success in Ontario with over 300 students from nine schools participating.
Now in its fifth year, JDC Central has moved to the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario. The 2014 competition will host over 500 students from thirteen schools and will continue the legacy of academic integrity and competitive excellence.
